Hypnotherapy is an active approach to creating positive changes in your mind, emotions and life.  It specifically uses  positive suggestions and guided imagery to instill new thoughts and motivations into your subconscious mind. There is a place for the use of imagination, suggestion and visualisation  even within the context of contemplative practice. There are times when self-acceptance and allowance  is needed and there are times when we need to take action to change our inner atmosphere or the choices we make. Greater discernment of what is needed in any situation is one of the fruits of contemplative practice.

When you know you would like to change a self-defeating pattern of thinking or compulsive behavior, or if you have a specific goal you would like to achieve,  hypnotherapy and the use of guided imagery can be very effective. Most people find that a hypnotherapy session is very enjoyable and relaxing.  There is no need to worry about whether you are “hypnotisable”  or whether you will be giving up control (as in hypnosis stage shows).  In my sessions  I will only guide you into a light trance, which is similar to the state you are in just before you fall asleep. You are always fully aware and in control of what is going on.
